Great and wonderful gadgets await us this year. Following the CES 2010 Gadget Preview, HP is launching its latest version of a compact convertible tablet PC, the HP TouchSmart tm2.

See link for photos

From what have been reported earlier in Engadget, the HP TouchSmart tm2 convertible tablet is a 12.1-inch laptop which is driven by new Intel Core 2 Duo processor and ATI Mobility Radeon graphics. It has 9 hours of battery life off its standard 6-cell. Most importantly, the capacitive multi-touch screen is finger and pen friendly.

The physical and internal designs are pretty much impressive. It’s aluminum case gives the laptop the firm and professional look. It also looks thinner and lighter than its peers.

The most impressive about the HP TouchSmart tm2 is its convertibility feature. You can use it as a typical looking laptop or when you are inside a moving vehicle like your car or a bus, HP TouchSmart tm2 can be converted into a sleek tablet PC, presenting a full-color touch screen interface. Simply turn its monitor up, then close it over the body, overlaying the keyboard.

Google launches Nexus One, an Android 2.1 phone

This has long been a rumor and now it’s finally here. Google is all set to launch its own Android-powered smartphone Nexus One.

Google is geared-up for the press conference on Tuesday, which marks the debut of the much awaited Google’s first smartphone, Nexus One. As it is Google’s first time to market such phone, the expectations set upon the mighty search engine company is relatively high.

Let’s take a look at its features (sources courtesy of Wired and Engadget).

1) Nexus One was designed by HTC, which has a close relationship with Google.

2) It has a 5-megapixel camera with LED flash, Wi-Fi connectivity, accelerometer, compass and proximity sensors.

3) The phone is also told to be extremely thin — slimmer than the iPhone and HTC’s Droid Eris.

4) 1-GHz Snapdragon CPU, a 3.7-inch 480 x 800 display, 512 MB of of RAM and an expandable 4-GB microSD card.

The 1-GHz processor alone should make the Nexus one of the fastest smartphones available currently. says Wired.

5) Powered by Android 2.1, the latest version of the operating system, which is reportedly to be snappier and have an improved user interface.

So far these are exciting features that one would expect from Googles first smartphone, but there’s not much to compare it with other smartphones, except of course with the speed and memory capacity. But shouldn’t that be the two most important things?

Web Address Overpopulates Humans in the Globe!

net-users-map-simon-wright

Microsoft’s Bing have determined over a trillion web pages and Google have indexed over a trillion unique web addresses. And there are only about 6.7 billion people on earth. That’s fairly 150,000 web addresses per person on earth! Wow, imagine how huge the internet has become since 1969?

According to InternetWorldStats.com (IWS), the top 5 countries with the most internet users are:

1 – China (298,000,000 users, or 22.4% of their population)

2 – US (227,190,989, or 74.7%)

3 – Japan (94,000,000, or 73.8%)

4 – India (81,000,000, or 7.1%)

5 – Brazil (67,510,400, or 34.4%)

Australia comes in at 25th, with 16,926,015 internet users.

In another website, this statistics was translated this way: If you get to spend just one minute reading every website in your whole life, you’d be kept busy for 31,000 years. Without any sleep.

And Bing was a little bit more conservative when it said, “an average person would need six hundred thousand decades of nonstop reading to read through the information.”

Interestingly, Mark Higginson, director of analytics for Nielsen Online, said the global online population had jumped 16 per cent since last year and still he said that “with the rates of India and China still quite low, there is ample room for growth in the coming decade.

How Apple iTablet May Work?

Apple iTablet and iPhones, a perfect pair

It may seem very early to tell about this just before the actual launching will commence anytime in the first quarter of 2010. But it would still be a good thing though, for us to evaluate how this rumored iPhone-like tablet PC really works.

Apple iTablet is one of the newest products that people have been talking about lately. As shown in the CES 2010 Exhibit, the latest gadget seemed to be catching a lot of attention, probably because primarily it’s Apple, and you can get to use this side-by-side with your iPhone. It’s also lightweight, weighing only less than 2 kilos and is probably thinner than the Macbook Air (i hope).

One of the most passionate advocate of the Apple iTablet so far is a grad student from Georgia who posted some of his insights or “knowledge” on how an Apple iTablet really works.

Here are the URLs to the videos demonstrating each of the features of the Apple iTablet.

How are Netbooks Compared to Notebooks?

Netbooks are getting more popular in recent years because of its practicality of cost and technicality.
Netbooks are getting more popular in recent years because of its practicality of cost and technicality.

These are but laptops. However, netbooks are a lot different from notebooks in terms of features, cost, and weight; but not much on size.

Netbooks, from the word “net”, primarily imply that these tiny laptops help you connect and complete work on the Internet.

No wonder, netbooks are getting more popularity in recent years since they were first introduced in 2008, because they do help you a lot better in completing your reports in no time. Generally, netbooks are smaller, less powerful and less expensive than notebook computers.

They have screens smaller than 12 inches and weigh only around two pounds. Typically they cost between $300 and $600. One best example of a netbook is the Asus EEE PC 4G.

Notebooks on the other hand, are like laptops. They’re full featured, smaller in size, even lighter than a typical laptop, but they can be as powerful. They usually have screens ranging from 12 to 17 inches and weigh around 5 to 6 pounds.

The Lenovo ThinkPad X300 is a qualified example of a notebook computer. It has a 13.3-inch screen and weighs only 3.2 pounds. It’s powerfully-featured to function much like a larger laptop.
